About

Dr. Kelly Tuke is a philosopher, community organizer, radio host, and occasional DJ. Boston-born, Seattle-raised, she now calls Zurich home. After completing her PhD in Political Philosophy with a focus on the value of community, solidarity, and manifestations of structural injustice, she became highly engaged in Zurich’s nightlife politics - especially regarding the implementation of awareness practices and platforming artists with unique and marginalized identities. Kelly is a member of the feminist collective F96, where she is responsible for the coordination of the music studio together with Stellab (Vierzmr, KOKON DJ Workshops at GDSFM’s Sender). She is also involved in the production of Summer Camp Space at Clubbüro, Rote Fabrik Zürich (Summer '21 '22). She was centrally active in the opening of the non-commercial community space, Zentralwäscherei (Fall '21, Winter '22). She hosts a bi-monthly radio show at TRNSTN Radio in Fribourg, Switzerland. She works as an independent promoter, event host, and awareness consultant; installing workshops, club events and security/awareness protocols at various venues. Her current research focuses on Marxist perspectives on cultural work. Kelly is committed to the visibility of BIPOC/queer/trans/non-binary/women artists, curators, organizers, and DJs. She takes seriously that her passion for discovering, sharing, and mixing new music would not exist if it weren’t for the past and ongoing creative energy of black and queer artists and communities. Skill-sharing and knowledge-transfer resources for the cultivation and development of creative talent are central to her priorities as an engaged community member.
