Das Haus für Fotografie im Herzen von Zürich. Die Photobastei ist weder Museum noch Galerie, weder Offspace noch Auktionshaus, weder Kulturestablishment noch Avantgarde - sondern alles in einem. Wöchentlich wechseln Ausstellungen von FotografInnen, die sich in Eigenregie präsentieren, mit kuratierten Grossausstellungen bekannter FotografInnen, Gruppenausstellungen von Hochschulen oder Agenturen und Kunstprojekten. Artist Talks, Workshops, Portfolio- und Exhibition Reviews, Vernissagen und andere Kunstveranstaltungen von Tanz, über Theater, Performances, Konzerten bis zu Technopartys hauchen der Photobastei ihre unverkennbare Energie und Atmosphäre ein - bis es nach Ablauf der Zwischennutzung im Jahre 2024 wieder in die Hände des Kanton Zürich zurückfällt.
The home of photography in the heart of Zurich. Photobastei is neither a museum nor a gallery, neither an artist-run space nor an auction house, and neither a cultural establishment nor avant-garde - but rather all in one. On a weekly basis, exhibitions by photographers who present themselves on their own initiative alternate between curated large-scale exhibitions by well-known photographers, group exhibitions by universities or agencies, and art projects. Artist talks, workshops, portfolio and exhibition reviews, vernissages and other art events ranging from dance to theater, performances, concerts through to techno-parties breathe their unmistakable energy and atmosphere into the Photobastei - until it falls back into the hands of the Canton of Zurich after its interim use expires in 2024.
